Dan Mangan at Richards on Richards
Dan Mangan played an amazing set at Richard’s on Richards. This was his biggest show to date and he sure did not disappoint. There are only a few bands out there that can make me buy their merchandise at their concerts, and Dan Mangan is one of them as I ended the night purchasing a t-shirt and CD.
Although he was opening for Birds of Wales, a band from Toronto, Mangan performed like he was the headliner. His soft ballads mixed with his intense voice made for beautiful melodies. His lyrical content brings new meaning to every song he sings, and he makes people think about every word he says. His soulful tone along with his guitar skills can put him into categories such as Ben Harper ,Jack Johnson, and Sam Roberts.
With two independent records out already, Dan Mangan is brewing up a storm here in the West Coast and I wouldn’t be surprised if he makes it big one day. In 2003, he released his first CD called “All At Once” and soon wowed critics. With his second release in 2005, titled “Postcards and Daydreaming”, this singer songwriter went on a British Columbian tour that stopped at towns such as Penticton.
