WATCH: Last Call at Richard’s on Richards

It’s a sad day here in Vancouver, when one of the most respected and historic music venues gets the big wrecking ball. It’s a shame the Aquilini Investment Group has decided to shut down the doors of Richard’s on Richards and put up in its place another high rise condo, but hopefully other venues will step up in its place to become the next Vancouver hot spot.

I had the prestigious opportunity to cover the last Friday night at Dick’s on Dicks, and with 7 bands lined up to give it one last bang, the last call was overwhelmingly special. We interviewed Adaline, Dominique Fricot of The Painted Birds, Dan Mangan and Josh McNorton of Poor Places, and Mikey Manville, Mark Parry, and Jay Koenderman of The Manvils. They shed their thoughts and admiration for this beloved venue, as well as their opinion on the Vancouver music scene.

Take a moment to grasp the idea of a Vancouver without Richard’s on Richards, and in memory of this treasured site, watch the video on the sidebar.

Special thanks goes out to Alex Ramon for manning the video camera, Jason Rouleau of Teamworks for letting us shoot, as well as Richard’s on Richards for all the lasting memories.

Great Dick’s on Dick video! It turned out really great! The sound was good, and I like how the you and Alex decided to collaborate it all. As sad as it was to see the venue go, you have a memory of being there on the last Friday. Great work!
